Come Fly With Me!

Come and discover the Louvre! Take a virtual tour of one of my favorite museums-now we can all get to Paris (virtually!). I immensely enjoyed being guided through the Louvre and remembering places and exhibits I had seen when I visited many years ago. Now I hope to increase my knowledge of museums around the world through the use of this assignment. That way, when I'm ready to actually visit or teach about various places in the library-I'll have a sufficient knowledge base to draw off of. The website is http://www.louvre.fr/llv/musee/alaune.jsp?bmLocale=en
Hope you enjoy your tour!

Hi Beatrice-

I've been to the Louvre in person and seeing the opening panoramic views brought back a lot of memories.

So today was my first "virtual" visit to the museum. Of course, nothing can replace the experience of being there firsthand...but the virtual tour was pretty amazing considering. I spent a fair amount of time exploring the different areas of the museum - which is a lot quicker when done virtually! It was very interactive and allowed me to look at and zoom in on whatever was of interest. However, the resolution for the "zoom in" function wasn't great - but you get the idea.

Thanks for sharing and now I have the urge to travel!

I enjoyed the virtual experience as well, Kate. I think it could come in handy when teaching especially when you want to show the students a special exhibit or piece of art.

Ladies,

I am also now inspired to travel...can't wait until this degree is over.

Bea,
Your comments gave me the idea of sharing this site with the art teachers in my building. They now have access to a laptop and projector and could use it to give students a virtual tour! So many of our students have probably not had the opportunity to travel to some of the places where we can now give them virtual access.

It seems as though the computer can now take us to new lands much like books can!! I love the library:)
