Tagging

Another new word to add to my ever increasing computer world vocabulary! Tagging seems like a very useful activity to use in order to organize the contents of your collection. Organization is a key component in being able to access information quickly and really get the stuff that you want! Therefore, it seems like a lot of thoughtful consideration must go into tagging.

I, too, am so conscious of all the new words slipping into my vocabulary. when I think of tagging, I think of Hansel & Gretel leaving bread crumbs behind so they can find their way home, but over time, other forest travelers find their crumbs and replace them with others, or join them to other routes through the same patch of woods. In the end, what started as a way to organize, becomes a way to discover. I guess that's the magic of Web 2.0!

Hi Beatrice,

I am starting to use these words with friends and co-workers and realizing that not too many people know what I'm talking about. I guess these technologies are still on the cutting edge. I feel so privileged to be exposed to these new information technologies and excited to share this information with others.

Julie, I think that's a really great analogy. It really helps one to visualize tagging.
